FarGo Village Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Described as Coventry’s “Creative Quarter”, FarGo Village, is gearing up to celebrate its tenth birthday this year with a line-up of events to mark the occasion.

Situated on Far Gosford Street, the village has a diverse mix of creative independent businesses housed in repurposed shipping containers and market spaces.

Over the past decade, FarGo Village has provided a platform for 140 people to establish, expand, or trial their independent businesses.

To celebrate its birthday, the village, created by regeneration specialists Complex Development Projects (CDP), has a series of events aimed at giving back to the local community.

Highlights of the anniversary programme include ‘Art for All’ during half-term week from 27-31 May, an Art Fair on 1 and 2 June, and Warwickshire Open Studios Artists in Residence from 25 June to 7 July.

The main festivities are taking place at a festival on 28 and 29September, featuring live performances from local up-and-coming artists, street food, and street theatre.

The village are hosting Coventry Pride on 3 August and the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust River Festival on 7 and 8 September as part of its birthday celebrations.

Holly Hewitt, FarGo Village Manager, described the milestone as a brilliant opportunity to celebrate the village’s achievements and look ahead to the next decade.

Encouraging community participation, she emphasised the diverse range of events planned and encouraged everyone to join in the celebrations.

“FarGo Village has really cemented itself in Coventry and the wider region as the creative hub for independent retailers, creatives and artists and we are really proud of everything that has been achieved.

“Our tenth birthday is a wonderful chance to reflect on our achievements because we are home to such a wide variety of talented creatives as well as original events and we are looking forward to the next ten years.”
