The Friends of Spencer Park has launched a petition in support of its plans to renovate and restore the Sports Pavilion at the park.
The Edwardian pavilion is falling into a state of disrepair and its owners, the City Council, are not prepared to spend money on it.
The Pavilion is located in Spencer Park, which is now within the Earlsdon Conservation Area.
The plans are to restore the external appearance of the Pavilion and to revamp the interior to create a heritage meeting space, a modern café and new toilets.
The Pavilion could host exhibitions showcasing local heritage articles, photographs and the work of Coventry artists.
To attract funds for the renovation, the group needs to demonstrate that the restoration of the Pavilion is a local community priority. Hence the petition.
At the time of writing, one week after the launch of the petition, it had 1666 signatures.
If you would like to see the Pavilion saved and restored, then you can sign the petition here.
