CovSoc committee member, John Goodman, attended the recent launch of a new book. John writes…..
The Litten Tree Building, built for the Rover car company in 1910 as its showroom, is shortly to be demolished as part of the City Centre South development.
Over the years after Rover it had many lives, and went out in blaze of glory when Alan Denyer, Coventry’s master of building re-use, got his hands on the upstairs in August 2021 and then the whole building in May 2023, and turned it into a space where the city’s artists and performers could show, congregate and inspire. Hold events too.
Bill Savage was capturing it all, and has just published a book, The LTB is Dead (long live the LTB), a work of art in its own right, rich in photographs and text, in which he gives a voice to all those artists and event organisers – 230 of them! Copies of the book are available from Bill. Email him at [email protected].
